My latest obsession

I've always dug on the FXR platform, but this one has jumped out at me recently. Not a bike you see tweaked in a whole lot of different ways, but this just looks great. Pics stolen off the 33, just thought this guy deserved a shout for thinking outside of the box.

As most everyone in blogosphere now knows, Mister Blotto himself, Mike D went down in a single bike accident Friday morning. He sustained some fairly serious injuries and underwent surgery on Saturday afternoon. It went well and he is recovering. 100% recovery is expected (required).

He'll need lots of love over the next couple of months. A lot of you have been asking how you can help.  If you have a few extra bucks, it would be great if you could send a "gift" to his pay pal account at suckaduckpunk@yahoo.com to help cover his expenses while he's out of commission.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at theh8ter AT hotmail.com. Thank you for your understanding and please keep Mike in your thoughts.

For Sale:

Pulled these off the Shovel I bought recently. They cleaned up nicely, but aren't 100% perfect. The left side tank has a small dent along the bottom and a couple small rust spots. The dent is removable through the filler hole, but that's on the new owner. It appears to me that the original owner of my shovel replaced his original FXS tanks with these. They appear to be OEM Harley factory paint  and each tank still has the grey HD liner inside. The right tank has a straight crossover nipple, the left has the post '81 90 degree nipple. So, I think the right tank is off a 1980 Sturgis and the left is off an '81 (or '82). These are great tanks and would be awesome for a restoration or to just run. Email me at theh8ter AT hotmail DOT com for pricing or to make me an offer.

The project

So, a few whiles ago, I made a post searching for a cheap project. Fully aware that everyone I know also wants cheap projects, I didn't expect a whole lot; however, I had to take a shot in the dark. Not too much time passed when my friend Harley sent me a text..."Go get it sucka". There was a picture of a Craigslist ad to a "1979 HD low rider" in Los Angeles. I made a couple of phone calls, but as per usual, everything was taking longer than expected. The bank, traffic, the borrowed truck. I finally get everything together and call the guy back, explain I'm about 2 hours away because of traffic and ask that he call me if he sells it to someone. You know what he says? He says, "No, man. You called first, I won't show it to anybody else till you have a chance to see it".

I get down to LA, just west of the 405 on Slauson (that's the hood for those that don't know). Meet with the guy and a deal is struck. It's a 1979 Lowrider, 80 inch. Shows 3900 miles on the odometer and I think those are true original miles. He says that his girlfriend's uncle bought it new and left it at her house in 1981 when he took a trip to Texas. The dude never came home, so it sat in her shed for all those years. This guy came along and thought about restoring it, but decided he wanted to stick with cars. He even took it down to the DMV and got a VIN verification and titled it. Obviously, it's a bit crusty, but what a great start.

Buy stuff from this guy

STAND UP dude. Jumped through a ton of hoops for me. Went out of his way on his time and his dime to help a guy out. If it wasn't for Tim, I wouldn't have my KTM right now. He made dealing with the "unknowns" from 2700 miles away easy. This is what motorcycling is all about.

Please use his business for anything you can. Visit his online store at http://www.gigacyclegarage.com/

If you're in the Rochester, NY area, buy this guy a beer for me (or the beverage of his choice).

Thanks again, Tim. Truly good to meet quality people like you.

Katoom

So...the replacement

Saw that coming, huh?

2011 KTM 990 SMR. Bought it used with 446 miles on it. Came with the Akropovic exhaust. 115 hp +/-, and just under 400 pounds wet. Came yesterday, so I've barely ridden it, but it rocks.

Goodbye, Friend

For those that don't know, I recently sold The Pig. I'm gonna miss it, but alas, it's just how my brain works. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

As that farmer said, "That'll do, Pig. That'll do."
