Ciao Bella

P I M P

Well, it's not black...

I'm not sure how I feel about the orange and white, but I appreciate that he did something different. And, I really dig the seat.

Shovelheads stalk me. This one was waiting for me in Prescott

Sometimes I wish I lived in Castle Rock, Oregon...

Where tree forts were cool and the Chopper that everyone talked about was a junkyard dog

and a place wherein the hoodlums were 145 pound older brothers sporting pompadours and moose knuckles...

You dug it. You know you did. Stephen King writes some pretty cool stuff.

Cubano!

So, about a year ago, a work buddy took me to a Cuban restaurant in Los Angeles. A little place called Versailles. He said there were a few of them around, and that he'd been going for years. He said, "Get the chicken". That's it. Get the chicken. I got Ropa Vieja.

A couple of months later, we went to another of the locations, this one in Manhattan Beach. Again, "get the chicken". So, I did. I ordered the chicken. It's the "Famous Garlic Chicken" or some such nonsense. Um, famous should be considered a slap in this chicken's face. It is literally the best chicken I've ever eaten. Period. Ever. You can get a lunch size (1/4 chicken) or a normal person size (1/2 chicken). It is crispy and delicious, covered in fresh, raw onions and smothered in Mojo Sauce. A house speciality that they sell by the bottle. It is garlic heaven, tangy and infused with citrus. Beyond the heavenly skin you will find juicy, hot chicken that is so tender it nearly falls from the bone. The plate has the chicken, onions and fried plantains. All taking a little swim in the Mojo Sauce.

Delivered to your table with a healthy side of well prepared rice and the most delicious black beans you'll ever eat, almost stew like. Eat them separately or mix them together. Be sure to save at least two of the aforementioned plantains for the last few bites, sop up the mojo with them. Really.

Go to this restaurant. And, dude, I'm telling you...get the chicken.

{ { { SERIES } } } My eBay Obsessions

Yet another Panhead. Like I said, this was my "gotta have a pan" phase. This was one of my first exposures to Jeremiah Armenta of Love Cycles fame. He builds some of the most amazing bikes ever. Apparently, this was also everybody else's "gotta have a pan" phase, 'cause this thing went about 4 grand over what I bid.

Quite a while later, I stumbled upon the bike at Born Free 2 in Signal Hill.

Evolution...

...of the Sportster

I know for a fact that this isn't what the MoCo had in mind with the Evo Sporty. This is so much better. Just look at the fab skills, the visionary, functional thinking. Check the details, the 17"Suzuki rims, the Kawi shocks, the almost maniacal dedication to weight savings. Such a great bike. I love that some people don't get it.

I talked to the owner/fabricator a couple of days ago. Just about the bike and his thoughts on the modifications he'd made. Great dude, willing to share knowledge and information. Even sent me some links to help me with a few things. Nice to now there are good people out there willing to help each other out.
